Woven, not printed

What jacquard fabric is.

Jacquard fabric carries its pattern in the weave itself. On a jacquard loom every warp thread is controlled individually, so motifs, florals and geometrics are built into the cloth as raised, textured structure — the design is the same on both faces, never a film of ink that can crack or fade.

This is what separates true jacquard from a printed fabric, and from a simple dobby (small geometric weaves). The family includes brocade, damask, tone-on-tone and metallic lurex looks. We weave ours mainly in polyester and poly blends for colour-fastness, drape and value, from roughly 120–320 GSM on 145–150 cm widths.

Why it suits abaya & eveningwear

Pattern with restraint.

For the abaya market, jacquard is the elegant alternative to a loud print. Because the figure is woven tone-on-tone — black-on-black, navy-on-navy — the cloth reads as quiet, formal texture rather than a busy graphic. A damask scroll or an Arabesque motif catches the light as the garment moves, then settles back into a clean dark surface.

That makes woven jacquard a natural fit for occasion abayas, kaftans, jalabiyas and evening dresses, where buyers want richness without colour clash. The texture is permanent and the hand stays supple, so a tailored robe keeps its drape and a run stays uniform across rolls.

Common questions

Jacquard fabric, answered.

Is jacquard woven or printed?

Woven. The pattern is created on a jacquard loom as part of the cloth’s structure, so it shows on both faces and cannot crack or wash off. If you need a surface design instead — photographic prints or your own artwork — see our custom fabric printing service or our printed fabric wholesale range.

Can you weave a custom jacquard pattern?

Yes. Send your motif or repeat and we develop a strike-off on the loom, match the yarn shade and confirm the weight before bulk. Lead time for a new pattern is longer than stock; talk to us early so the design and sampling fit your launch.

Which fibres and weights do you offer?

Mostly polyester and poly blends for colour-fastness, drape and value, from about 120 GSM dress-weight jacquards up to 320 GSM for structured abayas and robes, on 145–150 cm widths.

Is jacquard suitable for abayas?

It is one of the most elegant options. Woven tone-on-tone in black or deep shades, jacquard gives an abaya formal texture without a loud print. Browse our full abaya fabric wholesale range, or contact us for swatches.
